After several decades in business as a costume maker and rental shop, Bob Mandel finally closed his doors in 1995. His stock of 6,000 costumes were sold at a public auction on October 16-18, 2005.

On October 14, highlights from the Bob Mandel stock were shown in a Costume Fashion Show. The show was organized by Jana Keeler. Many GBACG members were the models.

GBACG members and friends were among the earliest attendees at the auction and scooped up some wonderful costumes. Bob Mandel was in business in the era when theatrical, film, and opera costumes were made by expert seamstresses using the finest materials available.
