Falling for Vertigo: A Toast to Hitchcock's San Francisco
Saturday, February 11, 2012 -- 1pm to 4pm
Legion of Honor Museum, San Francisco, CA
Tickets are sold out for this event!

Join us as we celebrate Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo and the beautiful Edith Head costumes it showcases! This is an event for patrician "Madeleines" in gray, sexy "Judys" in flashy greens and purples, sporty "Midges" in practical cardigans and skirts, tweedy "Elsters," and detective-dapper "Scotties" in midcentury ties.

We'll meet at the Legion of Honor Museum, a legendary San Francisco location featured in the film, ten to fifteen minutes early. At exactly 1pm, in a nod to the fictional "Portrait of Carlotta" featured in the movie, we will experience a guided tour of the Legion's portrait collection. Afterwards, we'll have time to explore the museum's other collections and pose for digital photographs - just like star Kim Novak - on the museum benches.
Eventgoers are invited to stick around afterwards for several unofficial activities, including lunch or a snack at the museum cafe, a side trip to nearby Fort Point (featured in the scene where "Madeleine" throws herself into San Francisco Bay), and evening drinks at the Top of the Mark (the famous restaurant and bar located high atop the Mark Hopkins Hotel, and referenced by Scotty in the film in a joke about his vertigo issues).
Costume: Costumes are required for this event. The suggested era is mid-to-late 1950s through the early 1960s. GBACG Costume Guidelines
